George Groves: I believe that now I'm a world class fighter

12/16/12

George Groves says victory over Glen Johnson proves he is now world class and worthy of fighting the best super-middleweights out there. But after a disappointing year that saw him fight just twice because of injury, Groves can look forward to pressing on in 2013 and is set to reappear in February.
However, he remains one of the toughest men in the sport and despite throwing everything at him, Groves was unable to claim the stoppage.
"I will give anyone in the world a decent fight and would beat a lot of the top guys. I believe that now I'm a world class fighter. I can look back at this year and say I've only had two fights, I've had two successful fights and have made big improvements. Johnson has boxed at the highest level for a long time, and at light heavyweight as well. The good fighters he's beaten is impressive. That performance will tell the rest of the division that I'm here, that I'm a contender and someone not just to keep an eye on, but to fear," Groves said.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra rejects transfer speculation linking him to PSG

12/10/12

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has dismissed speculation linking him with a move back to France with Paris St Germain.
Reports from the continent had suggested that big-spending PSG were ready to turn their attention to the 31-year-old left-back.
But France international Evra, who has been with United for over six years following his move from Monaco, insists he has no intentions of leaving before his contract has expired in 2014.
Talking to CanalPlus he said: "You are not serious to ask me such a question? I have one year remaining on my contract, I am playing at Manchester United and I am captain.
"You would need to kill [Sir Alex] Ferguson before anyone made me go to Paris! There is nothing in it and I am happy at Manchester."
However, the Senegal-born Evra admitted he was flattered to be linked with a move to Paris, where he was raised.
"It's always a pleasure to be wanted by a club such as Paris St Germain, especially as I am Parisian. I have never hidden my love of Paris, even though Monaco is still 'my' team," he said.
"It has always pained me to see the club not win the title or qualify for the Champions League."
